A Few of My Favorite Photo Locations in Chicago (but it's so hard to choose!)

If you live in Chicago or have spent time in Chicago, you know this city has some incredible and iconic photo locations! We are blessed! If you’re having a hard time deciding on where you’d like to take wedding, family, lifestyle, or any kind of photos you can dream up- I’ve compiled a list of some of my personal top spots, most of which don’t even require a photo permit- YAY! Here is some inspo for ya!

1. Chicago Riverwalk

Come on- does it get more iconic? Ok yes it actually does- see #2! But Chicago Riverwalk is so versatile in that you only need to walk a short distance to have multiple different backdrops and looks. I love going here for weddings when the couple’s hotel and reception space are right downtown. But it’s also a really fun spot for a family to walk around. We can even pop up on one of the bridges. It feels like Chicago summer perfection:

2. Chicago Theatre

If you are looking for one of Chicago’s MOST iconic spots, enter the Chicago Theatre. It is simply stunning. I’ve shot families, weddings, and engagement sessions here, and it never disappoints! There’s a huge median in the middle of the street that offers a great vantage point. There’s also some cool alleys right around the corner. It’s definitely busy and bustling, but I feel like that adds to the magic.

3. Theatre on the Lake

If you’re looking for the best skyline view that Chicago has to offer, the Lakefront Trail right next to Theatre on the Lake is always a classic. I especially loved when this group of girlfriends met up here for some fun and casual photos together:

4. Lyric Opera

This is a gorgeous back up location if it rains and you’re not able to reschedule. For instance, if it’s your wedding day (fingers crossed for NO rain). Honestly, even if it’s not raining, it’s a really stunning spot in downtown Chicago. It’s also fun to walk around that area and get all the city vibes in your photos.

5. Garfield Park Conservatory

Garfield Park Conservatory is a great location in Chicago if you’re itching to do photos in the winter and don’t want to freeze! This spot does require a permit, but it’s pretty cheap and easy to get as long as we plan for it in advance. It’s a really fun spot to visit in the dead of winter where you can feel the warmth and good plant vibes!

6. Your Chicago Neighborhood

I love when my clients ask me to meet them in their neighborhoods just to walk around and maybe capture them grabbing an ice cream or enjoying a drink or riding their motorcycle! One of my favorite things about Chicago is the beauty of the many different neighborhoods. It’s so special how each one has their distinctive feel. This family lives in West Town and absolutely loved this mural not too far from their home. I also love walking around Noble Square, Lincoln Park, Pilsen, Humboldt Park, West Loop- you name it! It feels so meaningful to capture these memories for you!

7. Lakefront Trail by Castaways

This is another epic Chicago skyline situation for you! I cannot tell you how many sessions I’ve done here, and it truly never gets old! It’s just classic Chicago showing off!
